Body Mass Index

BMI, is defined as the value when the weight in kilograms is divided by the square of the height in metres (kg/m2). Obesity is classified according to this results. As an example, to calculate the BMI of a person; 1.70 meters tall, 70 kg in weight

1.7 * 1.7 = 2.89

70 / 2.89 = 24.2 kg / m 2

Obesity according to BMI classification

20-25  Normal range

25-30  Overweight

30-35  Class 1 obesity

35-40  Class 2 severe obesity

40-50  Morbid obesity

> 50     Superobesity
